I'll have to write an article on Don Randall. He owned half of Fender, and ran Fender Sales (his half) completely autonomously. He put together all the catalogs. Hired the artists and photographers. He created all the advertisement champagnes. He named all the guitars and amps. He made Fender a household name as much as Ford or Coca-Cola. He was as innovative in business as Leo was a tinkerer in electronics.

Sounds fascinating! Please do write that article!

I might. Pulling out all the books and finding the information, marking the pages and taking the notes just to begin writing is somewhat daunting. If I knew it was going actually be published somewhere and a check with my name on it was involved I'd be much more excited about it. My History of Fender Brand Strings was supposed to get an editor's rewrite and be published, but that never happened.

Just bought the Rumble 500 Combo and Rumble 115 cabinet from Sweetwater. Just an excellent amp. I play a Fender P 62' RI with Roto Jazz flats. Play finger and pick when required. I love the tone, versatility and power. I just retired my Ampeg SVT and 810 cab. Can't wait for the first gig with this. Would buy again all damn day long.
Im eyeballing the same/similar rig....please report post first gig:)

Just a quick update.

Made it through Hurricane Matthew. Minor damage at home, but my hometown is underwater. 3 of my band mates may have lost their homes... we won't know until they open the bridges and allow access to down town. Google St. Augustine and hurricane Matthew to see some unbelievable pics and footage.

Sorry to sidetrack, Rumble on!

Bummed I missed Rumble Friday. Lost power and cell service.

Now from what i can tell, the weather service is claiming that after it comes off of Maryland.. this storm is going to loop back around into the southern region of Fla.. not good

That was the original thought, but I think they say that isn't going to happen now. The storm will weaken to damn near nothing and a high pressure/cold front 8s coming it to push it away.

I certainly don't mind the sidetrack and am so, so glad to hear that you made it through in one piece, @munkeyfish.

I'm sorry to hear that your band mates lost their homes. Here's hoping that the rebuild is as quick and painless as can be.

Still not clear if they have yet. National Guard isn't let anyone into those areas yet. My Violin player is almost certain her home is a mess. We seen pictures of her place in about 6 feet of water. The downstairs part anyways. She lives in old town down town on King Street.

Lead guitar has a place right on the beach. Still no word. He and his family are still in NC, evacuated to there to afford the storm.

Singer/guitar player still has no word yet. Her place may have been spared, but no reports from that area yet and still can't enter there. This is also our rehearsal space. (Rumble is safe, we took all the gear out ahead of time) She lives in Old Town down town too, historic Linconville.

However my buddy Lou (Story Side B) completely lost his studio. He posted a short video about an hour ago. Fish Tank Recordings is the name of the place. He showed cables buried in mud. Water line about halfway up on his vintage Ampeg 810 cab. Yesterday there was a video posted of his studio underwater. Luo is understandably upset.

My whole hometown is a wreck. Where I grew up on Vilano Beach is almost totally gone. A1A is washed out or buried under sand. One of best friends that lives there still, lost his house. The bottom floor was totally gutted, I'm 99% sure there is no saving it. But once again, going by pics, since no one can get on the island.

And thanks for the kind words Melissa.

Good luck to you and your friends! My first time visiting the Rumble Forum; looks like a real nice group. I got lucky with the path and experienced very little heavy weather here in SW Florida. Love my Rumble 40 -- folks can't believe the venues I can gig successfully with that little dynamo! From trio work to full 40's style dance band.

It is VERY rare for lows to recurve that far. I can't think of a single example. That doesn't mean it's never happened, but extremely rare.
