Well, that's unfortunate haha. Do you know if repairs are even possible with this kind of damage?

The speakon cable that I used was the one packaged with the amp head. I don't think its a "bridge" cable as I didn't see anything indicating that.

There is a biamp setting on the amp and I was running it through a 4 ohm avatar 2x12.

Yupp, sent them an email about half an hour ago. Is there anyway that I can check to see if the amp is actually fried? I haven't turned it on since it started smoking for fear of making it worse.

I actually bought it from a TalkBass member, in the classifieds. It was described as new so I was hoping that he might have some warranty information. However, I checked at GK's site and it appears the warranties only cover the first owner, so I'm not sure there is even a way for me to get it...

One is rosewood and one is maple? Also I think the necks are VERY similar but the geddy's is a bit thinner. Although that could all just be in my head, thats just how they felt. And plus the bodies balance differently. To me, the jag had a whole bunch o' neck drive.

Also when people have the option of listing two choices they tend to put the one they really want as choice number one, whether or not they realize it. So going by this, I'd say you want the geddy over the jag. But once again, get the one that feels right.

I made this exact same thread 4 days ago haha so I know what you're going through. In the end I picked the geddy lee because I just found the neck more comfortable and I realized that I would probably replace the preamp in the jag anyways. I also got a killer deal on the geddy so that helped...

Ok well I did some more snooping and found most of the serial numbers on fender's site. However, they stopped posting serial numbers for cij instruments after 2005. But because my serial isn't even listed I'm just going to assume it was made after 2005 and that I have the upgraded tuners.

Well guys, thanks again for all the replies. I've thought it over and I'm going with the Geddy. It had all the playability that I want and if, down the line, I want to add a preamp I can get one that is better than the jag's anyway. Again thanks for all the input!

I fly Southwest from Houston to Baltimore pretty often (Go to Hopkins) and I've never had an issue with carrying my bass on the flight. I have the huge stingray hardshell case and every once in a while I'll get a security agent that thinks its a rifle, but other than that, no issues what so ever.
