Wouldn't know, mine came in a P/J X set where the J is meant to be in bridge position... wasn't aware of 2 different sizings.

Well the X set was pulled from my Spector Pulse II, where the J is also in the bridge position. Either EMG changed pickup dimensions, either Spector Europe use different specs than Spector Korea. I'll settle for the non X versions, they are fine... Just a bit less headroom.

Yes the J is larger and the screw holders are a bit wider apart but the P seems the same

Actually it's worse as there is nothing I can do about it without modifying the bass. Won't do that so I'm screwed. Good thing it sounds good as-is :)

no pun intended but : the Gotoh GB350 are my go-to tuners always :)

Gotoh 707 is a direct drop in or better yet : GB350 Res-o-Light (lightweight version of the 707)

As suggested by other MM non-treated maple neck owners : dish washing liquid mixed with warm water (the pink stuff in the bowl on the picture) and an old cotton tshirt. I dipped a piece of tshirt in the soapy water, wrang it out to not over-wet the board and went ham on the neck :) Immediatly...
