    Rickenbacker Toaster in a Gretsch?

I have a Gretsch G2220 Junior Jet bass that I'm considering a pickup mod on. I want something more raw-sounding and thinking about a Rickenbacker Bass Toaster pickup in the neck position. I haven't had much luck finding complete accurate dimensions online. A couple of considerations...1) Whether...

Grestch junior jet II pickup upgrade

I wish I could find a way to connect to someone who's replaced the original single-coil pickups in a G2220 Junior Jet bass. I've been actively looking for a set of the originals but haven't found any advertised for sale.

    SG & EB Bass Club

After lengthy consideration, I decided to let the SG bass go. I enjoyed playing it for a year and a half after I traded my Rickenbacker for it, but I don't see myself getting much use out of it now that I have the Gretsch. I've enjoyed being part of the Gibson bass community in this thread...

I've certainly done my share of routing...I built guitars and basses for about 15 years (pretty much all with bolt-on necks). One thing that's always puzzled me a bit....In the case of something like the SG bass which has a fixed neck, how do you cope with the router base conflicting with the...

    SG & EB Bass Club

Thanks, HaphAsSard and ctmullins, for the suggestions. I sent an inquiry to Best Bass Gear asking if the Guild Bi-Sonic would be a drop-in, as I'm a bit reluctant to modify the Gibson by routing, but it sounds a bit like ctmullins has answered that question. I kinda like the idea of the...

    SG & EB Bass Club

I've been having some thoughts about my SG bass. Since I bought my Gretsch Junior Jet, I've had an increasing appreciation of the clarity and articulation of single coil pickups. I've been giving thought to disposing of the Gibson because there's such a remarkable difference in the sound. If...

Gallien Krueger Club. GK Rules !

Just a final note on this subject....I just heard back from Jason at Gallien Krueger....He thinks the output from the DI on the MB112 may be too low to drive the input on my second amp. He's suggesting either an AB box to drive both amps, or to plug my bass into the Twin Reverb, and then using...

Thanks guys. I appreciate all the information. It's nice to find somebody with information on GK that I couldn't find elsewhere online.

Thanks, B-string. I'd been wondering if I could use a microphone cable to do this. (I have a Shure PE-56 mike that can be wired for high or low impedance, and I have it wired low impedance with an XLR->XLR cable. I wondered if the high impedance cable XLR->1/4" phone plug cable would be...

Gallien Krueger Club. GK Rules !

I went to the Gallien Krueger site and noticed they have a bunch of email addresses up for inquiries, so I've sent an email asking them. I've seen people elsewhere remarking that GK is particularly good dealing with customers, so hopefully they can tell me. I'm a bit puzzled by B-String's...

Gallien Krueger Club. GK Rules !

Thanks, ProbablyTooLoud. I was beginning to think nobody was ever going to respond to my question. Hopefully somebody else here knows. I hadn't even considered calling GK, but maybe that's worth consideration.

I just bought a used MB112. It's the older generation amp that doesn't have the Chain-output feature. I still haven't tried it with my band and suspect it'll probably be adequate, but I'm curious about adding more power....Can I drive a powered cabinet or a second amp from the DI XLR jack?

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

The only thing I can see as a pitfall in leaving it packaged for an extended period of time relates to where it's stored. Whether it's boxed or not, instruments aren't happy in extreme temperatures. Try to ensure that the packaged bass is stored in a cool dark space without an excess of heat...

This is just a guess....Almost twenty years ago, I did a restoration of a 59 Telecaster for a friend. It had been heavily modified, including the installation of a set of mini-humbuckers that were in ivory-colored soapbar rings that were unbranded but stamped "Patent Applied For" on the back. I...

The Official Short Scale Bass Club -- Part 4

I'm going to disagree with some of the opinions expressed about the Gretsch G2220. I know there's mixed feelings about the pickups, but I gotta tell you.....I like the single coil pickups. The way the bass sounds is the reason I'm ready to ditch my Gibson SG......The G2220 just sounds cleaner...
