    Hofner-(not just Beatle Basses)-Group Part 2

I just purchased a Hofner HI-BB-SB on Monday and I love it! I've been trying to find more information on it though and sort of came to a dead end. While trying to decipher the serial number using the information on Hofner's website, I hit a bump. The list of letters to corresponding years...

Kristian Dunn of El Ten Eleven's gear stolen...

I had a short email conversation with Kristian Dunn and he said they had already notified the police, so there's a good chance they went to that pawn shop and got the guitar. Which would make sence for the auction to be taken down.... He asked me not to post about it on Facebook, but I don't...

Kristian Dunn of El Ten Eleven's gear stolen...

I already posted this to their FB wall, PMed them on FB, and emailed the address provided on that flyer. I hope this is it, and that he can get it back... The serial number looks like someone tried to scratch it off. The second to last digit is either a 3 or an 8 and if it is an 8, it is WITHOUT...

Show me your vintage Japanese Bass!

This is exactly what I meant. I just hope I can get it back to playable. The body is pretty rough with the binding coming apart in a few places. There's also some cracks in the neck pocket that scare me a little...

Please help ID Vintage Japanese bass

Wow! Thank you cdef! That is an exact match down to the binding! It looks like the company logo is stuck or glued on that headstock which would explain why it is missing. There aren't any extra holes in the headstock. Those 2 marks that seem to line up with where it had the company logo...

Show me your vintage Japanese Bass!

Alright guys I recently acquired this project for next to nothing and have started working to restore it. I'm thinking it's from the 70's, EB2 knock off. Someone painted the whole thing with a white latex interior paint. I just started working on stripping it off and found these markings...

    Sub 5 sterling by musicman

If I end up getting one of these togo along with my SB14 I was going to go for the black and maple, but the first thing I was going to do is a red tort or red pearl pickgaurd. My sB14 is red and i put a black pearl pickguard on it. Looks so much better than stock. I still may get a SUB 5, but...

Please help ID Vintage Japanese bass

I picked up an old Japanese made EB-2 knock off before Christmas that needs a bit of work. Been trying to get on it in my very uncommon spare time. Anyway I just stripped the headstock tonight and found his clue. Hoping some of you older guys can flex your years here and help me figure out what...

Best value to price ratio on >$500 basses?

I have a Sterling by MusicMan and they are pretty great. I love it. It feels and sounds just like a US made one. I have an SB14 which is basically a Sterling. The Ray34 is a Stingray. SbMM has also started making the SUB basses again. 250 dollars for an active MusicMan with a 2 band pre. They...

Did you keep your first bass?

That's really sad... I lost a 86 MIJ Precision when I was 19. I miss it so bad and still get angry about it 10 years later. It was a great bass. At the time those basses weren't in very high demand so I only gave $125 for it at a local music shop. Replaced the nut, strings, and set up and...

Items that you bring to every gig

Swiss Army knife and duct tape. If I can't fix it with those it can't be fixed.
