What details? I learned the material I was asked to learn, plugged my instrument in, played with the band for a while, the dude shook my hand and offered me the job. I turned it down. No one here has ever turned a gig down?

I turned the job down. I got offered the opportunity, it just isn't my thing.

When 90% of the set list is a root fifth, a simple scale walk or hammering a root note for 16 bars, then yes I'm good enough to play with this band. The newest song they play is Neon Moon by Brooks and Dunn. Hardly challenging. Do I want the gig? Sure or I wouldn't have agreed to the audition...

I had to do this before. I'd practice before work, get home and eat supper, then practice some more. A couple times my wife came and got me. I fell asleep at the computer on YouTube with my bass in my hands.

Tuesday's Gone. Maybe not hugely technical, but it is kinda busy. None of the other bassists play the intro. They simply hit the root note and let the guitar carry it all. But there's a lot of bass work in this song.

I've been asked to audition for a country/southern rock band. The BL is not impressed that I haven't really played out with anyone. I'm good enough for the type of music they play tho. The songs I've been asked to play are dead simple except one. Every bassist that does this song dumbs it down...

The song is 1/2 step down. My guitarist says that it's the guitar that goes up and the bass stays down, but I still think I hear it going up an octave.

i know it's a simple thing. But, I'm listening to Knockin on Heaven's Door by GNR. At about 1:18 in the song the bass sounds like it moves from the B on the A string to the B on the G string. Can someone help me get there? I can hear it, but everything I play doesn't sound right.

I think this would give me more choices, but I could be wrong.

I just bought both the ART Tube Pac and the Sansamp Bass Driver DI. I currently have the chain bass>ART>Sansamp>amp. I put it this way so that the tube in the ART colors everything. Is there an advantage to going the other way? I kinda like both by themselves also. What are the recommendations?

I've seen some Presonus mic pres. I'm not after any overdrive, just some nice tube warmth. It seems to me that a bass more closely resembles the range of the human voice that a guitar or keyboard so I wouldn't think it would damage the unit, but I was hoping to get some opinions.

I'm browsing eBay for different tube preamps. My question is does sound source matter?
