Actually you can sell flats here on the TB classifieds and recover a lot of your cost, especially if you don't cut the ends. Since the whole point of flat wounds is to get them to sound broken in, people buy them secondhand sometimes with the preference of finding them already broken in!

Pro hack- if you can afford it or use points for the upgrade, buy a business/first class ticket and your bass goes in the coat closet no questions asked. I am batting 1000 with that method for getting my bass onboard.

The Wal circuits in these can easily be built by a skilled technician. Years ago mine failed and Harry Kolbe rebuilt the circuit from the plans I got from Pete. Works great now.
