    Fender Rumble Club

Hey G-dog, Thanks for the number, the welcome and your time and efforts wrt the Club. And congrats on overcoming your recent health issue. My Stage 800 is my third Rumble. My first was an R15 that came with a bass I purchased 2nd hand. I later picked up an R40 and some pedals at a ridiculously...

Show me your vintage Japanese Bass!

1960s Decca short scale, mahogany body and neck. Nice pickguard, pups, pegs electrics, sounds - nice everything in fact.

    In praise of Korean basses...

They're an awesome guitar. Here's a close up of the body of my Toby IV. It's just lovely.

    In praise of Korean basses...

To give some new life to this thread, here's some of my MIK basses. IMHO, they tend to play above their purchase price. Great electrics, thumping sound, excellent craftsmanship and super playability. I love the necks on mine. They rate up there with MIA and MIJ, and generally better than MIT...

Vintage Japanese Basses - for those who appreciate them

Thanks wrt Burns. Its heavy as, like an old Norton or Triumph 750, but has a unique sound and a super cool mildly vibrato bridge. The Decca is like an early Suzuki or Honda 500 twin. And you're right about the pegs. I've just bought a set of 4 inline closed chrome vintage Teisco style pegs...

Vintage Japanese Basses - for those who appreciate them

Here's a few photos of the headstock and the tuners. I gotta say it was a bit of a search through lots of Teisco, Kawai, Guyatone etc images before I located yours with identical pup and pg setup. I agree wrt Jags. They're lovely. I've also added a snap of my '66 Baldwin Burns Baby Bison ss, if...

Vintage Japanese Basses - for those who appreciate them

Hi JIO, Thanks for that. Your photos and posts were spot on in terms of head stock, body shape and pups. I'm beginning to form the view that we've got some weird Decca lawsuit era hybrid. Mine's got 3 of those original and distinctive Decca tuners. Wish I had the fourth. It is a nice marriage...

Vintage Japanese Basses - for those who appreciate them

After researching this and another thread - in particular JIO's posts of Mar 21, 2018 and Sep 18, 2020 - I'm beginning to think it could be a Decca SS from the late 60's to early '70s, with a mahogany Tokyo Sound neck and twin Guild pups.

Vintage Japanese Basses - for those who appreciate them

G'day everyone, I recently picked up this vintage MIJ short scale bass, and was hoping the crowd could help me ID it. The seller thought it was probably a 1960's Teisco. But, it has no badging (a bare backplate & the headstock sticker refers only to its steel truss rod). Its got twin humbucker...

My V1 is full scale at 34 inches. This, along with the simpler presys distinguish it from the V2.
