Would you be offended if a band asked you to play a P bass?

I wouldn’t be offended, I would just politely decline the gig. I have some styles and a few sounds and the gear to match. I don’t use Fenders. If you want me, that’s what you get. If it doesn’t fit, then you don’t want me, and that’s okay. No hard feelings, it’s very simple. I’m sure there are...

What was the dumbest thing an audience member ever said to you?

“Do you know any AC/DC?” In 2002, I was subbing for Tim Bogert at a Vanilla Fudge concert.

    Best rock lyric ever?

I wish that for just one time, you could stand inside my shoes. And just for that one moment, I could be you. Yes, I wish that for just time, you could stand inside my shoes. You’d know what a drag it is to see you. - Bob Dylan

    Have a stage-side preference?

I always stand high hat side. A few people asked for us to state why. You got it. I have actually done clinics on this. I stand high hat side so yes, I can see the kick foot, but I maintain it’s important to watch all four limbs, not just the kick foot. I say if you’re only listening with your...

Who Else Started Bass at 14, or some other crazy young age?

I started on drums at 11, but was literally talked into bass in 1967 at age 13 instead of guitar by my guitarist friends when I really wanted to play guitar. I don’t regret it. I’d have made a lousy gutiarist. My head is best suited for the rhythm section. My first bass was a white Hagstrom II...

So 70's Fender are desirable now?!

True, all MTD basses come with it, but Buzz Feiten is a separate company. Any guitar or bass can easily be retrofitted with it.

So 70's Fender are desirable now?!

It substitutes a zero fret for the nut and compensates for the stretch of the string when you press it down. You can tune your bass with any standard tuner but you need a special Buzz Feiten compatible tuner to set it up.

So 70's Fender are desirable now?!

You would notice it if you played a triad or chord up high over an open string. Over the years I believe your ears get accustomed to the standard neck bass playing slightly out of tune, like hearing beats (warbling) in stretched out intervals and chords. Once your ears adjust to hearing a bass...

So 70's Fender are desirable now?!

The $225 was a joke. My emoji didn’t show up. :)

So 70's Fender are desirable now?!

I won’t take a penny less than $225 . It looks beautiful, all natural finish, maple neck (shim no extra charge), pearl block inlays. Fender called the reissue a ‘75 but I bought mine used in ‘74. I’m not a Fender expert but a web site called the serial number a ‘72. All original except one of...

So 70's Fender are desirable now?!

At last! Maybe I can finally sell my ‘72 Jazz crap.
