I called Peavey Customer Service and left a message. Hopefully I’ll get a response. I’m leaning towards lacquer. It dries much quicker than poly and in a production environment, things need to move along quickly.

Also, how did you learn this from a serial number search?

My Foundation is a 93 and the neck doesn’t have the finish wear normally associated with lacquer but I’m not sure. After 33 years, it still has shine

Now, does anyone know whether the finish is on their maple fretboards is lacquer or urethane?

Seems to be in line with all of their stuff. Peavey amps and PA equipment were solid and bullet proof but not trendy.

Did more research and my 93 has the super ferrites so I’m content. I don’t understand how such a well made, US bass that sounds and plays amazing is so snubbed and sells for so little. Bought mine for $220
