I have an Ampeg Svt 1540 HE cab with an Ampeg V-4 head. This is an amazing amp and sounds excellent, but this set up can not go past 12 o clock without distorting and is pretty loud, but not loud enough. I just picked up my amp head from the shop. I plugged it in and let my tubes warm up for atleast 15 minutes so they are pretty warm. My amp is good at a low level but once i turn it up to 12 o clock it starts distorting. If anyone knows how to fix this problem that would be awesome.

I have this same problem. I think it is just my head in need of new tubes. My head is 16 years old and has never had its tubes replace. Right now it is in the shop getting a tune up. I will get back to you guys to see if if that solved anything.
