Wanting to build bass cab. HELP!

So I want to build a bass cab just because it would be cool to have an amp that I made on my own. I just wanted to get your guys' opinion on bass speakers, the type of wood, and what crossover I should use. I love a nice warm and deep bass tone.

Any advice would be GREAT!

Scroll down to the section on DIY speakers and do some browsing of the threads to get you started and help give you some ideas. Particularly look through the fEarful threads. Loads of discussions on design and crossovers. Then folks can help you with more specific questions.

Soooooo many things to consider.. The great thing about building your own (and I heartily recommend it) is that you have total control over what you want. Obviously the question can become how do you get there from here?

If you want to design your own, you can get a lot of advice from here. However I'm afraid a lot of it will sound like gibberish unless you take the time to educate yourself about speaker parameters and cabinet design. There are several good books and tutorials out there. Back in the day I bought a couple books on the subject at Radio Shack..
