    New production Tung Sol 6550s

They're both beam tetrodes. You can see on that GE data sheet that there's no suppressor grid and pin 8 is connected to the cathode and beam plates. Edit: Just noticed you took that part out of your post WretchedExcess. I was trying to quote you for clarity and suddenly what I was trying to...

Phil Lesh Appreciation Society: Enter the Philzone...

I usually play it like so (every note is played on the E string except the Ds): E G E G A E A B E B D B D Then after the last D you're on the first E of the main riff. A lot of the time I'l go from that E (7th fret A string) to some kind of lick an octave up that works its way back down...

Ha, there was a time when I could only enjoy Jerry's '60s tone, Les Pauls or SGs into Fender combos, seriously monster huge tone. Edwin, I like the sound of that re: Pyramid flats. I'll have to grab a set. I've been finding the TIs a bit too floppy when playing with a pick lately. I gather...

    Question about a Guild Bass

It could have a stereo jack. [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] mentions a stereo Guild Starfire that used one stereo jack to output in stereo. There's also a brief mention of the JS-2, which is what the Jet Star was called in the '70s, but not specifically about the jack. If you can open it up...

Hey Edwin, how do you like Pyramid flats on your Starfire for Phil tone? I think I read a thread on the Alembic forums where you gave your initial impression of them but I couldn't find anything where you reviewed them after they'd broken in some. I'm thinking about swapping from TIs to Pyramids...

Cool, I knew he used tube McIntosh amps for a bit but didn't know specific shows. And, yeah, fantastic show. I just love the Playing, the Bird Song, and the Dark Star is amazing. The way it transitions into El Paso makes me imagine some epic journey through space ending with a crash landing on...

Was the whole Dark Star caught on film? I could have sworn the version I saw had some hilarious stop-motion animation with a koala bear or something like that for a good chunk of the Dark Star.

Sounds like you've got some awesome equipment to work with. I'd love to try a Showman. I've recently grabbed an old Sunn Sorado off a fellow TB'er (essentially a 200s) and I love the thickness of the tube tone but I do miss the Fender passive tone stack on the Hartke. I know exactly where to...

I'll try to get a recording up playing with a pick. I've never played through a Showman or an F2-B/F1-X so I have no grounds for comparison but for the price I'd say it's a decent step in the direction of Phil's late '60s, early '70s tone. Now if only I had some old JBL 15s...

I play a Dearmond Starfire with Dark Star pickups through a Hartke LH1000 into an old Traynor 2x15 loaded with Eminence Legend CB15s and to my ears it definitely does a fairly Leshy tone. Here's a video of my current band doing Truckin': Neon and the Meate Dreams - Truckin' It was recorded on...

Could just be a bad tube in the pre-amp. A new 12ax7 is only $10-$15. That's a cheap place to start.

    SVT CL Cab Options

I don't really now anything specifically about the 410HE but if the speakers in it are 8 or 2 ohm speakers you could rewire it to 2 ohms. How easy is it to pop a 410HE open?

Bands that use noise in rock songs?

I can't recommend The Zoobombs highly enough. They're from Japan and they're easily one of my favourite live bands. Tons of energy and the bassist and drummer rock some really sweet grooves.
