Not sure exactly what the color is named officially but I would label it as vintage white. I really like the looks of it. Looks much better without the pick guard that the new ones have. Except for the matte black 734, that is one sweet looking instrument.

Lots of great answers, thanks guys! I've come to the conclusion that I'll spend my money on a good setup and an amp. I'll also experiment a bit more with different string types. If I at some point decide to get a new bass, it would be to try something different, and I would keep the 414.
