What's with the love for G&L lately?

My mint ‘89 burst SB-1 has his name literally on the headstock, though. One of his final years with us and there’s a likelyhood his hands were on it. At least I like to think so. It sounds amazing, too. I’ll never sell it.

New to bass... I have a Bassman...

I’d suggest looking for a nice sealed 2x12 cab. I had a ‘65 bassman as my first tube amp and paired it with a 2x12 with Eminence Legend speakers. It sounded glorious, but obviously not a ton of head room with 50 watts. Be mindful of the active bass through it as it’ll break up faster with the...

Fender American Ultra Series - ???

Just sitting over here with a couple variants of MusicMan basses and enjoying the show.

    Active or Passive?

IMO I don't want to play a specific type of bass. What I do want is a bass that cuts through the mix and has a tight response. Very few passive basses seem to give me both with enough headroom. I prefer Musicman Stingray basses now because they really knocked the preamp out of the ballpark in...

Are you a one bass guy, or not?

Wait. The new BFR fretless Stingray? :woot:

Looking for Bass Tube Amp Recommendations

You honestly can't go wrong with a Traynor. Run some KT88s in the YBA200 and you'll be happy for years. I had one and wish I hadn't sold it. Great head.

When did you become a bass player?

We had a bunch of drummers to chose from (including myself) and not a single bassist. Best switch I could have made, honestly.

    2x12 or 4x10

I use my Orange 2x12/2x10 iso cab stack, or a 4x15 with neodymium speakers.

What Could Bring You Out of "G.A.S. Retirement"?

Wait, are you telling me that all of these basses I've bought off of reverb actually came packaged in other basses? GAH!

What Could Bring You Out of "G.A.S. Retirement"?

Not sure, honestly. I have the basses I've wanted, I have the amps and cabs that I've wanted. I've tried everything under my GAS sun that I thought I wanted, but realized were just gimmicky and not my taste. I bought some nice gear, then traded my ass off with a goal in mind, and now here I sit...

    SOLD '69 Fender Precision Bass

I think it's a few things. First the cosmetic issues, which aren't a big deal to me. The price is certainly right. The pots are a bigger issue, since they look like they've been changed. Have you taken the neck off to see if there's a '69 date stamp inside there? That would probably seal the...
