I just started out playing bass a few weeks ago and I tried learning songs right away. I realized that although it's fun to try to learn songs, building up agility is more important to me right now. It may not be as fun at the moment but I know it will pay off more in the future.

I talked to a guy at one of the shops near by and he said he'd set it up for $45. Spending $45 to set up a $70 bass sounded like a lot of money. Luckily I talked to a guy at another shop today and he said he'd do it for $25, so I'll take him up on that offer.

At this point it's hard to imagine anything being automatic. I look forward to that day though. :roflmao:

Yeah I was just curious in general what the differences are. When I get another one it would probably be at least 6 months from now. I don't need anything too expensive though. I'm not planning to play gigs. It's just something to do in my spare time that makes me happy. Hopefully in the future...

This is the current one I got off Amazon. I'm guessing physically more expensive ones have a smoother feel while playing besides just sounding better?

What is the difference between string types and what is the difference between really cheap ones and more expensive ones?

I just bought a bass last week and I think the strings might be too high. I'm a noob so excuse me if I get any of this technical stuff wrong. The neck seems ok which would be the truss rod right? Would that mean I need the bridge lowered a little? I would bring it to the guitar shop by my house...

Considering I got a no name bass for $70 last week, hell yes! I thought I'd try out playing bass and get a better one later on if I like it. Well, I'm hooked now and decided I want a better one hopefully in the spring when I have more money saved up.
