    Aston "Family Man" Barrett

I think its a pity he does not get the recognition as a composer he deserves. He lost some lawsuits against island records. He didnt receive royalties for many of his basslines i guess.

    Aston "Family Man" Barrett

I was at a Wailers concert yesterday. They reformed with Aston on bass and alot of great musicians amongst his sun Aston jr. on drums. Great concert and i was amazed that they came to my obscure town in Denmark. After the show i waited out back with a couple of my reggae jam band mates...

Basses you GASed for, but have no interest in now?

I thought i wanted a rick - until i played one. Not for me! I still dig the looks, and have thought about getting one of the cheap chinese bolt-on copies. Just for laughs.

    Elixir bass strings.. Thoughts??

Are the Elixirs kind of sticky, like the coated DR strings? I'm thinking about trying out a set, but if they're sticky, they would go right off the moment after i mounted them.

New Bass - SR 910 MOL

Allright, thanks for shedding some light on that. It's definetly lighter in color than all the wenge i've seen on Ibby necks. Surely i different type - but mahogany seems a bit odd. EDIT: Jatoba??? (jat/bub/jat/bub/jat) ?

New Bass - SR 910 MOL

Just a little bump question if anyone is willing and able to answer: I cant seem to locate this bass in any Ibanez catalogues. The 98 catalogues have SR's that seem to be newer than mine (jack in on top, and other details) even though my serial starts with 98? Anyway, maybe it isnt in the...

Is your most expensive bass your best 'player'?

Yes it is. I don't have much money in any of my basses, but my newest and most expensive addition is the best player even if it currently needs fret-leveling. (I'll get to that later today) :-)

    Cleaning up rhythm

Do some time excersises? Play with metronome? Saw a really nice time excersise with Victor Wooten. Something with KORG.

New Bass - SR 910 MOL

Thanks for clearing that up Wallace. Now that you pointed it out - i see that it looks nothing like the other Mahogany Ibanez's. must have been a mistake in recognizing the material/color at the shop where it was bought.

New Bass - SR 910 MOL

Thanks for the reply Wallace. I'm surprised about your info on the body material. I got a receipt with the bass that clearly states SR910 MOL. MOL meaning mahogany oiled? I don't think it looks oiled either, but i have seen an SR900 with an ash body, and the grain was very different from...
