I like funky old Japanese student instruments. I wouldn't buy one for that much myself, but I don't know what the market currently is. I wouldn't buy it at all without knowing what the issues are.

Bass equivalent of nylon string guitar, soft, easy on the fingers and hands. Good for a softer touch.

Not everyone drinks at shows. I don't really drink much and unless it's in a bar I won't have a drink and neither does the woman I usually go to shows with. If I'm in a bar I may have a beer, possibly two but that would be it and only if I feel like it.

That's interesting, my Thomastik strings are pretty old, they still sound good but my biggest hesitation on replacing them is the cost. I play a bit of classical guitar (poorly) so I'm not intimidated with strings that need to be tied or knotted although I imagine that could be a challenge.

To be honest I'm still using the roundwounds it came with, I don't know what brand they are. I have Thomastik Acousticore on a different bass.

I don't know, I can get perfectly usable Chinese guitar pedals on Amazon for 20 or 30 bucks. The eurorack stuff I've looked at would make me poor quickly. I want to get some drone synth stuff and play with that, I was looking at the Drone Thing or similar (read as cheaper) for a next purchase.

It's much louder with normal strings. Nylon core greatly reduces volume. I like the sound of the nylon core strings and I like the ease on the fingers. They're fun to play, but they definitely aren't the choice if you need acoustic volume. If you don't need the volume and you like the tone...
