Continue to wear the brace like you've been doing and hopefully the doctor will be able to recommend some exercises that you can do to strengthen your forearm. I also think that wearing the brace at night would be a good idea, but you could probably take it off for a little while during the day...

I believe the notes are D, low G, B, and C. Just repeat the pattern. You'll get the hang of the fingering pretty quick. It's a fun, easy song to play :)

I also start with my middle finger and then alternate. I've never really thought about it before, I just start playing. I prefer to use a pick, but on the rare occasion when I use my fingers, I usually tend to start with my middle finger.
