What song would you play?

when i was in highschool we played herbie handcocks watermellon man (head hunters version) into bon jovi's you give love a bad name.... we did a little walk for the key change...our drummer covered his floor toms in glitter and did not use them until the beginning of the jovi song... and we all put on wigs we stole from the drama dept. prop closet. it was a good mix of funny, funky and awesome. people rushed the stage... pretty hysterical looking back...

I was going to recommend Circumstances or YYZ, but they have a rhythm guitarist who'd probably be sitting there going "What the heck am I supposed to do now!!!???" and a lead singer who'd have to get his vocal chords surgically stretched....:D

Maybe they could try Subdivisions. Geddy's vocals aren't terribly high and the guitars could play the synth/lead guitar parts. Wish I was there to coach them, this would be epicly awesome if done right! :D

Back in high school I played in the talent show with lots of different groups, I've played

YYZ
Xanadu/New Speedway Boogie/Working Man/Bytor medley
Waiting on the World to Change
Yellow
Enjoy the Silence
Famous in a Small Town
...some other stuff I'm forgetting.

Really, it's the popular stuff that goes over with people under 18. John Mayer and Coldplay went over well. Rush doesn't really go over well with a high school crowd.

Really, it's about the vocalist's ability anyway.
