As far as the choice of preamps, has anyone who's tried all three end up preferring the MLD over the AGL and Starlifter? It seems the majority prefer the AGL over the other two.

Thanks, I haven't connected it to a computer yet, but will very soon. So far, I prefer the down position (off) in front of my amp.

Question, wich position for the IR switches to be on, up or down? It's my first unit that has IR capability, and I assume it's the down position (quieter) toward the IR symbol, but wasn't sure. The manual doesn't state the on or off position.

Great info. Thanks My guess for the Vega would be that they saved the extra cost, and skipped the silicon/ etching process, leaving the engine block as soft as aluminum normally is. Makes total sense that the higher end European makes would do it correctly and just factor it into the high price...
