Nope, it's not the pickups. I tested some muting at the bredge and at the headstock but that didn't do much. I'm suspecting the strings now, there does seem to be something wrong with the winding at the end. I'm trying a different set of strings next week. Of course new strings bring more...

Yesterday I lowered the pickups to the lowest point, and played with my thumb, same problem... Only with the EBS strings it's very bad on the E string, pretty much on all positions. I think I'll try a really good cable, see if that helps any...

Yup, switched from d'Addario flats to EBS rounds, both already used. It did get better with the rounds though, especially since I play with a softer touch with those. But it's still there

I did, it helps a little, but only because the overall tone is less powerful, the overtones are not less present... Playing with a fat finger doesn't take away the issue... your replies give the impression that this is not an abnormality? Perhaps I should check with the Thunderbird club...

So that's not a mod? It'd make sense then that there are 2 buttons for easy switching, because it ís an option that can come in handy. But not if you have to move the button every time :)

There's basses out there that are way more old and don't need any upgrades. For that price, it's a great deal. But like said before, try it out first and see how it plays and if everything's in order.

Yeah exactly, and it's still on warrantee :) However, I'm not sure I still want a tweeter, I'm curious how it'll sound without it. Or will it be the same like it does now, but without the buzzing? What upgrades are you thinking about?
