I have never seen that before. I play the open G string, I get a clean G. Harmonic on 12th fret... I get a clean G, but when I play the 12th fret note (with all the other strings muted) , I get a horribly wobbly sound... Imagine you're playing an open G on your bass and a slightly out of tune G...
