    Intonation issue

    I have a TRBX605 which had the same problem. I was able to get it close to being in tune, but not quite. I decided to have the bass professionally set-up and I believe the luthier replaced the screw with a longer one. The bass is spot on now with all five strings.

    I just ordered and received a Temple Audio Duo 24; it's very well made and will have room for all of my pedals and ones I might later purchase.

    I also have the MarkBass Micromark 801 and don't use a preamp with it. I can say that the Micromark is well-designed; if you're input level gets high enough to cause distortion, you will definitely hear it.

    What was your first bass amp and how bad was it?

    My first bass amp was a home brew using a McIntosh MC-30, a preamp, and a 12” speaker. Great tone, but no bottom end, and it farted out above about 12 o’clock on the volume. I “graduated” from that to a Peavey 115 combo.

    Lightweight bass cab?

    I like (and own) the MarkBass New York 112 Extension Cabinet. It weighs 29lbs, has a neodymium speaker (to keep the weight down), and sounds wonderful. Also, it'll handle 400 watts.
