    TRACE-ELLIOT ELF SCHEMATIC

Hi all, well I said I would get back to you with the results of my initial post about the Trace Elliot Elf which I damaged by accidently plugging it into another amp rather than a speaker cabinet. As you will have read, the part I need is a small sub assembly circuit board, not the main board...

It is the power amp stage, which is a class D type and as such probably utilises MOSFETs I think, will take a closer look later when home and let you know if you like.

I like fixing things! Had a call back from supplier today, still trying to source the part I need. Will update you when it's either fixed or finally binned! Cheers all.

Haroldo, thanks for posting the pics and the link. The link is correct in that it probably is not worth the cost of having it repaired. Or the effort of doing it yourself unless you enjoy it. The power amp as most of you will guess or know is on the left of the pics, the sub assy board that has...

yeah that's my thinking too, except never considered an exchange. Interesting concept and a good idea, will keep you all posted.so far I'm betting on me going back to Ashdown but in the two days I had it I liked the TE one so will keep an open mind. To be fair, it's made fairly old school with some easily re-solderable items. I thought the same as you when it went bang (on day 2 of having it!). Seems possiuble to repair...just waiting for info. Let you know how it goes.

43 Years experience...seen it all over the years! Guess as far as diagrams and after service support goes, that is what seperates a top class manufacturer to one who just wants to make throw away crap. Still waiting to see where Trace Elliot fit in that one.

The other amp is fine thanks! It's an Ashdown...tough as old boots. And they supply parts and diagrams if needed. Hopefully TraceElliot will...keep you posted on that one.
