That's definitely a beautiful cab. I'd love a 2x15, but I'd doubt I'd be able to even gig that. Even the 1x15 is a bit out of my price range, at $700-ish price (plus shipping, :-/ ). I'd probably use two single 15 cabs for at home practice with a band, and only use one cab for live use...

It wasn't so much speaker size as the type of speaker (bass speakers versus the guitar speakers that I currently have in the cab) as well as a matter of making the cab weigh equal to or less than the current weight. Unless I bought two 12" neo speakers, I didn't want the cab to weigh more than...

I've already done that, but that's always great knowledge to have! I've had this amp for years. It's a '65 and it's a dual showman with a "Showman" faceplate.

There wouldn't really be any modifying of the cab, just a replacement of the baffle (it's merely screwed on). So it wouldn't be destroyed or anything like that. The original baffle, which already has extra screw holes and a changed grill cloth from a previous owner, would be put away safely and...

Ah, I see. All this is good knowledge. :) My "expertise" is all guitar-related, though I've been playing bass longer. I used to always just plug in to whatever was available.

I should also note that the Showman is a 4 ohm head (it's essentially a dual showman), so the CB-158 wouldn't be ideal for that reason. Admittedly, I'm rather ignorant when it comes to the tuning and venting of cabs. I've been told, and this probably isn't correct, that if I replace the rear...
