Ahhhhh, an image gallery feature. I'll make sure to use it next time. Maybe I should just copy your settings, that's 'ALOT of bass'. The way I see it, I shouldn't be able to break it by turning it up, and I'd hope that no-one would limit the output. My guess is it'll just be slightly harder to...

Also, anyone on team Tourbus? I've had mine for 5 years and it's my go to practice amp. Special Edition model at a discount price. I love it! I used to play it a lot in my old flat, as it wasn't TOO loud. Controls are pretty simple, what more could you want from a small amp?

I think a couple of people will have received their silver speaker cabs now. Any thoughts?

Caution! Graphic Content! Squier truss rod fix (amateur)

Are the necks in the VM jazzes known to be 'iffy'? I had a VM Jazz neck that kept losing tension after leaving it a day, had to tighten it by 3+ turns, until it got to the end of the thread, and still wasn't straight. Would washers fix this?

Hi. I've seen a Performer nearby used. As a try before buy deal... and just had a few questions. I was wondering what the general 'vibe' of these basses are. I have a Yamaha (youTube), and have played an L2000, an SB-2, a P-Bass and a J-Bass. But honestly, painted in broad brush-strokes, what...

What are your views towards Ibanez and Yamaha?

Yamaha has a problem of not being known for basses, they make a lot of stuff, even things which aren't musical instruments. People who have played em, know they are good. People who don't view them with skepticism. My opinion, they feel good, are durable, reliable, and sound good. Serviceable...

It's a solid state class D amp. There are no tubes involved. From the branding spiel, it is aimed as 'hard-working bass players looking for a reliable workhorse'. Valve's tend to be another point of failure IMHO, and I'd keep them for a studio amp personally.

What do you think is the best audio interface?

That PreSonus is tempting, but artist edition of Studio One is quite limited. Otherwise Studio One is the BEST DAW. I had a 30 day trial, and it is basically engineered from the ground up to put Cubase to shame. Obviously it has it's own idiosyncrasies, but for acoustic/amplifed music it is...

I'd rather just use a DI box before it reaches the amp TBH, less to go wrong, and most sound engineers will insist on a pre-eq DI box. I have a nice passive box I use as a back-up source should my amp settings fail me. Not sure about the added noise from extra cable length (5m XLR and 4m...

The new rootmaster cabs have been upgraded too, with plywood, silver cones and new handles. Still you are right, they are pretty ordinary as far as cabs go. Built to a price is what most reviewers said. I'll have a mess with the rest of the EQ tonight, as you say the treble may be misleading...

They have just released an update for this. The Rootmaster 500 and 800 evo. They don't have the cream and white anymore. BUT it doesn't fix the issues you have. You get an extra speakon, a passive/active input (sigh), a mute switch (meh), and I think it may be a bit lighter. Personally I'm a...

    420 smokers and non-smokers in a band

We as a band are very casual about it. It's not a big deal, and it sometimes helps us to work on our showmanship. If you treat it as a big deal, it becomes a big deal. In reality, it's no worse than someone having a coffee at rehearsal. I'd rather have a party vibe at rehearsal, it makes it so...

I don't know, they're website seems to lay out the range pretty clearly, and it looks like they have gone through some effort to simplify it into 'good, better, best' I'm not really 100% sure of the industrial design though, and I appreciate the fact it's not just a line of knobs like most...

    Converting a combo. GK MB112

Why didn't I think of that. It matches all the symptoms, and putting in some headphones does create a crackling noise very similar to the one just before it cut out. I'm probabaly not going to convert it now under Jools recommendations. The money would be better served going towards a cab I...
