I have LaBella Deep Talkin' 760FS-M medium scale on this. .045-.065-.085-.105, tension is great on all strings.

I have a Sidejack Pro JM but it may be a little larger than the VI. After much searching for a hardshell case, I got a Roadrunner RRMBA17. This case is designed for an acoustic bass so is way deeper than needed. I am in the process of customizing the case with extra padding but not finished yet.

The Classic 4 is very similar to the Gretsch G5442GDC. I re-strung my Gretsch with Medium Scale LaBella flats but the tailpiece is sloped making the the the E and A string too short. The silk doesn't quite clear the nut.
