Traynor amp tossed off the roof, change valves and it plays

Everybody mentions the old story of Traynor dropping his amps off the same height of a stage + stack to judge their construction methods. After buying a YBA200 this week I searched on youtube and found this vid where they recreate it with Pete Traynor years later. A few tubes and it still...

The official "Show your basses" thread part 19!

Got two new additions: 1: 78 P bass 2: This one is just as cool, as I'm a new-waver... YAMAHA B1Xcellence (lol) That bridge took a day or emery paper, wire brush and oiling to get back to something reasonable. The tail of the case was in some damp basement for years. These join my KL...

    P basses without pickguards

Anybody love how the P bass looks without a pickguard? There are some seriously nice pieces of ash being hidden underneath that large piece of plastic. We could of had the best of both worlds if the controls went through body, and guard was removable like the pickup and bridge metal covers...

Luckiest unlucky guy in the world?

I am in love with this combination tbh. The thing that had me worried was that I'm buying due to fit rather than for sound (or so I thought). To buy pickups via mail order without hearing them was a gamble. These ended up being very, very well made, and compared to the Nordstrands which...

The official "Show your basses" thread part 19!

I only have two basses right now. Number 1 is a Kenneth Lawrence associate (low 300 serial) in Grape Jelly figured maple over ash body, blue fiber optics in the neck, Indian rosewood fretboard, modified Duncan pre amp with Delano's (replaced the Nordstrands). It is just magical to play. #2 is...

Luckiest unlucky guy in the world?

Hey all! I recently found this thread again, and wanted to post the results! Thanks for all the suggestions. I had the route made bigger, added two Delano's, and a thin thumb rest across the top to hide the router damage. I really appreciate all the advice given back then!

    SYNTH PEDALS... WHERE ARE THEY?

The only synths worth having for guitarists are based on piezo pickups such as Godins, Roland GKs, or line 6 variax 700 series basses. I found the pedals had poor pitch detection. Try alternating a harmonic at the 5th fret and then a half step down fretted quickly. One of the reasons ill keep...

Luckiest unlucky guy in the world?

Thank your for doing this...it makes it ver plain to see the problem. I'll measure again tomorrow and maybe you could draw the mm pickup over the current whole. Ken said a black pick guard would be my quick fix. Locals that have seen it in person say to put in the humbucker in front and just...

Luckiest unlucky guy in the world?

Hi, the route in the body is 48mm wide, which seems to be the same as MM 4 strings. The height of the offending bad route is 97 mm. It seems that width-wise I'd be aok according to both Bertolini, and SGD spec sheets. The height of the hole is slightly larger than the height of the pickups...

Luckiest unlucky guy in the world?

Hi guys, here are my final 2 choices: #1: Music Man-sized pickups front and back. Would be rerouted, and would not require any bezels, as the size of the bad routes is very, very close (inside of dimensions) to the edge of a refit. #2: Front double wide J50 (precision deluxe) sized pickup...

Luckiest unlucky guy in the world?

I found this pickup as well: Link Removed I'll measure this and see if a trim ring around both pickups will look good (I'll make paper cutouts. I have noticed that Louis Johnson used a MM style pickup in the neck position, but have never tried it myself. I might stick a PJ combo in...I'm...

Luckiest unlucky guy in the world?

I'm waiting for a response. We've talked pre-purchase to verify that this is instrument #305. Now that I have it, and had the pickguard removed, all other setup is not going forward until I resolve this.

Good idea, though I do put my thumbs on the tops of the PUs, does the surround make the "ledge" too tiny to do this?
