How to use the book for practice?

Well yes. I dont have the book with me here, so i cant quote from it but it says something like: Practice all scales all modes for a maximum of 30 minutes. Even if I move on once i have attained a reasonable fluency on a scale/mode, it will take me months. Do you actually practice to this level...

How to use the book for practice?

Hi, I bought the book and dvd last week, and I think it can greatly help to develop myself. I have been playing for about a year, and currently finalizing the Ed Friedland method books. I bought Tony's book in addition to my normal lessons, as I am not fully satisfied with the depth of the...

    KRK Rokit 5 vs 6 vs 8

Probably only be playing, definitely not be mixing anything beyond the level of home-recording....(for which I think the KRKs are ok) Open to consider other monitors though in the same price range.

    KRK Rokit 5 vs 6 vs 8

I am already playing through a computer-based rig and want to replace the headphones with speakers. The computer gives me better options for playing along with tracks, slowing them down for practice and transcribing etc etc.

    KRK Rokit 5 vs 6 vs 8

So far one says get the 8, the other says get the 6.... Not much of a clear winner. Any other votes? By the way I can probably dish out the additional cash for the 8, it's more the size that's bothering me. Bit of an audio geek here, so i have done acoustics measurements in the room...

    KRK Rokit 5 vs 6 vs 8

Started playing about a year ago. For the past year, i have been practicing through: Bass --> focusrite external soundcard --> MacBook Pro with Logic --> AKG headphones I don't own any other gear such as amps, and don't see the need for it now because no time for gigs. I would like to improve...

Online materials: lost the forest for the trees.....

I've seen mark's lists of lessons. However he has categorized them per topic, rather than as a roadmap for beginning bass players. To exemplify: If you would follow the playlist 'chords' you would learn chords and chords only. As a beginner, you would probably need more guidance on what to...

Online materials: lost the forest for the trees.....

Yes, paid resources is surely an option. It looks like Roy Vogt and Cliff Engels online courses may be what I am looking for, as they provide a clear structure to it. Is there anything similar perhaps that leans towards funk?

Online materials: lost the forest for the trees.....

Thanks, your answer made it clear to me that it is ok and even very beneficial to just practice by playing songs. That being said, I do feel I should also work on understanding what I'm playing and why. I love those players on YouTube that can improvise on any song, and would like to play like...

Online materials: lost the forest for the trees.....

Good point... Add that to the list of things I am unclear about. I read a lot about people 'regretting' they focused too much on songs and not on theory. You just asked me the questions I want to know. Say on average I have 1 hour to practice per day. What % should I spend learning/playing songs...

Online materials: lost the forest for the trees.....

Hi, My first post, I signed up after lurking for a while because I am stuck and need your help. I have been playing for a year now, and have been having weekly lessons. Unfortunately I live (temporarily) in a small country in which there is no musical education system (not a music community)...
