Official Markbass Club - the beat goes on, and on....

Hey Big Shawn! I currently play an Ampeg 410HLF Classic with a SVT 3 Pro. As soon as GC sends me a good 15% coupon, I am buying a Markbass 102P to replace a blown practice amp. Eventually, I am thinking about replacing the HEAVY Ampeg with the 102P and 115. What are your thoughts on volume and...

Not covering enough real estate on the neck

Learn all of your scales one one string, two strings and three strings. You'll be forced to move down the neck and once you are there, the patterns are still there.

    Funky plucking tunes

you say develop? Listen to Bootsy on "We want the Funk" Learn how to play it and then work on phrasing it properly. I like the Tower of Power and Mark King references. Another to try is "Come On, Come Over" by Weather Report.

Creating lines from a drum groove

Start simple and follow the bass drum. Try not to mute to follow the snare. Pick out a progression like a I, IV, V so that you can move around the neck and get used to what notes need to fall under your fingers. I practice with backing music 95% of the time. I highly recommend this approach...

    Can you slap??

One learns slap exercises no differently than one learns scale exercises. You just build on each exercise to arrive at your own technique. I have been playing slap for some time and what worked for me was to start using my slap techniques to run my scales, modes, pentatonics etc. I slap songs...

    Trouble with three fingers?

I find it interesting that you want to use a three finger technique to play 16ths. The only time I ever need (or want) to play with three fingers is with triplets when I want to get that real galloping feel, I will use my ring finger to rake when i am playing continuos 16ths or most commonly...

Need Some Advice On A New Cab

Wow!! I can't believe I missed that. I was only thinking about what I could and couldn't do with the head. I have been noodling so many options (including dumping the 410HLF for a lighter rig) that I just breezed past it. Thanks for pointing that out. Much appreciated. I guess there is such a...

new cab for GK700RB. your input?

what are you looking for in a cab? how much do you want to spend? what kind of music do you play? is weight a factor? I have been playing Ampeg for a long time now but I would consider changing if I decided to pick up a harder gig.

    1st Amp Head and Cabinet

My first stage rig was a Peavey Mark IV with a 2X15 Scorpion Cab. When my band would practice on my parents' basement, I could (and would) literally shake the basement windows open with that thing. Oh, the days when I played (bum bum bum bum bum bum) with my pick while sporting my Iron Maiden...

Need Some Advice On A New Cab

Ya know Wighat, I think that is why I posted this thread. There is nothing that makes sense to me to accommodate both scenarios. However, I do not consider myself a gear head by any stretch so I appreciate the feedback form the guys like yourself here on TB. I am leaning toward a Markbass 210...

    Help on Upgrading

do you have to get new? that's a pretty nice cab you got there. You could look at a used Markbass LMII or for your style, how 'bout a GK 700RB? I always found Hartke to be a little thin sounding. Just my opinion.
