    Upgrading my Lakland 55-60

Man, there are so many options. Personally, I like Seymour Duncan qtr pound pickups with an emerson tone circuit. Make sure you shield everything, including the under side of the pick guard. No need for Active circuitry and you'll keep the bass "original". Another option would be a set of...

    Klien Pickups - Help!

No, what I'm saying is that I wouldn't do business with someone that does business like that. I do business with Bartolini, Nordstrand, Seymour Duncan, Aguilar, Mojo Tone, to name a few. I've even ordered custom built units from SD, Mojo Tone and Nordstrand and have never had to pay before I...

    Klien Pickups - Help!

    1. sorry this is happening. It gives the custom shop community a bad reputation. 2. never pay for product, in full, before said product is ready to ship. A small deposit is understandable for custom orders, but most reputable companies DO NOT do business this way.

    What should I install??

Fill all the holes except for the P bass routes. Then install a set of SD Qtr pound pickups. Take the money you saved and buy some bitcoin.

    How can I suppress hum

Can you purchase shielding tape (copper tape) from Amazon in Switzerland?

    How can I suppress hum

While you are at it, I would also, if funds allow, consider upgrading your tone circuit to an Obsidian Wire, solderless tone circuit. Simple, very clean and extremely low noise. ObsidianWire™ | The Solderless Guitar Wiring Harness They use very high quality parts. I highly recommend them.

    What makes a quality pre-amp?

Depends on what you mean by "Quality". A good quality pre amp can have very few tonal options, like the Sadowsky you mentioned, but the components are of high quality To me, a good quality pre-amp will get me the tone I want, but with very low noise. People talk of "studio quality". Most of...

    SINGLE ear in ear monitors

Yeah, try telling that to our drummer. LOL...And we still have the issue of his vocal mic and the lead singer standing right in front of the drums.

    SINGLE ear in ear monitors

Our drummer does the same thing, and the lead singer is standing right in front of the drummer. Needless to say, I have to turn down the lead vocals, Overhead mic, and the drummer's vocal mic. They all pickup the snare drum. As far as the OP's issues, most ppl have already explained why it's...

    What is better?

If it's local and you can "try before you buy", I would do that. No one can tell you what you should sound like. Give it a try/listen, and let your ears be the judge. Good Luck.

    New Talk Bass Format

O.K. well, am I the only one that actually thinks it's better? I find the search feature to be much more robust and detailed in nature. Is it a bit more cumbersome and different than it used to be? sure, but with progress, comes growing pains and adjustments. All of the features you were used...

    Band-mates won't dial it down...................

DW, It depends on if they are good players and genuinely worth keeping or not. Guitar player sounds like he needs to go for sure, but the drummer may be workable. I would definitely get some IEMS. Not for them, but for you. Make sure they are noise canceling. Then l would set MY volume...

    Bass Just Dissappears

Your cab needs to be placed on the floor, this will keep your low frequencies coupled to the floor. You can angle it up using a small block or even better some sort of foam. Decoupling your cabinet from the floor will give you weak, thin bass tones. Just my experience. Good luck.

Do I really need to use pedals ... and if so, which one(s)?

You can buy my Helix LT listed here in the classifieds and try all kinds of pedals, pre-amps, and cab sims, etc. I think I'm going to go back to analog pedals and some cool pre-amp pedals. The 2 pedals I've come to really appreciate are a HPF/LPF and a compressor. I can get pretty sloppy...
