    Crest CA9

You're right. Problem with electricity is that you cannot "feel" what's right, or "see" what the current actually is doing inside the box. A true engineer can "feel" and "see" and calculate what's next, but not the average players! :-)

Ok, you know more about physics than me, obviously, so I'm not gonna argue! :-) I got the explanation some years ago, and it made sense at the time.. Anyway it doesn't change the fact, that this beast controls any cabinet way better than any amp I've heard. Including old and new SVT's, Super...

What makes the CA9 so fantastic, is the damping factor. In short, the higher damping factor, the better control over the speaker cone when there's no sound. The way the speaker stops, in other words.. This is one factor that is humongus good in the CA9, and the result is CONTROL and MUSCLES...

Hmm, no difference at all. I also have some random high pitch noise.. And some tones is really heavy uneven tones from it, sort of like it's not evenly tuned or something. I like the "bounce" and tone of it, but it feels like a toy or at least not pro enough. Will return the amp, but probably...

Absolutely spot on, I totally agree! The hum isn't that bad, and as soon as you playing with a little bit volume, it's not a big deal. However, I tried my Superbassman 300 with the pf115 and I must say that's one heck of an amp. No hum, and very very nice and delicious tube sound. The pf50t has...

Yes, The pf115he helps bring the farn The D.I is dead silent and better quality than pf500 I think. The hum comes from the speaker, only.

Anyone have a 50hz (or60) hum with these things? I have in my home but only from the speaker, not the post D.I!?

Thx, yes the difference is maybe not that big, but then again, I think the post one is really changing things. It's thicker and warmer and compress a lot more, it's quite obvious in the end, the slap thing. The great news is, that I could and will use this as a D.I in the studio. I don't think...

    HOT AMPEG NEWS! PF20T, PF50T, PF112HLF

So I just got the pf 50t and 115he, and it's lovely! :) Will try to upload three mp3 to show the difference in line signals. Hope it works. The RNDI is just D.I. The Pre, pre eq, is the preamp out, with the button "pre eq" in. And the Post, Transformer bal out, is after the powertubes and...

Chaining Two Ampeg SVT Micro-VR Stacks

I do think there's some mojo about the Micro VR, and I really liked it and also the two rigs together. But today I rather just use the pf 500 with different cabinets. It's just easier. The pf 500 works well with 210AV, 410he and 810, so it's more flexible, than the 2x micro VR, for me at least.

Thx Jimmy, good and precise info! Other opinions on the 20t vs 50t, sound wise? Is the difference only earlier breake up?

I just made it to page 35 of 75 in this thread, so forgive me, if this have been up. So, I'm going for a recording setup and want to get as close to the good old Jamerson sound. What's the best configuration? Pf 20t with pf 115 or 112, or pf50t with the 15 or 12?

    Who's the bass player ?

It's a normal P-body I think, but with a Tele neck. It does not say "Fender" on the head logo... Yes, he's using pick on this song, fingers on some of the other tracks. And with flats, yes. :) Edit: On a closer look, it probably says Fender on the logo...
