I new they were able to make very good adjustments to pitch these days but I didn't realize how far they have gone to make pitch and timing results so much better.

IMHO you should watch the video that Eric Lester posted (#413) before you pass this advice along to other musicians. There is so much more to timing than just a steady beat. I'm not trying to be argumentative Kevin I just don't know how else to say it.;)

If you watched this video there is nothing left to say about the usefulness/necessity of adding metronome skills to your tool box.

Exactly - the metronome gives you the solid base so you can break away from it.
