I might be kicked off TB for this, but.....

Hey man, opinion is opinion. Individuality is what makes this world beautiful. But.... If you listen to Jaco, say Come on Come over for example (anything he's done really) and say he has no groove, that's just plain nonsense. I wanna quote another comment here "stone ears" and possible a wonky...

Hmmm yeah I get what you mean. The sound works with the group I'm in now though and for my personal sound o enjoy how it cuts through nicely!

Which pickups to get for 5-string jazz??

Never heard of those, definitely will check them out. What do they sound like? I'm playing on an Ash body.

Which pickups to get for 5-string jazz??

Thanks for the info! I am aware of the active/passive situation, I just wanted to be clear as to what bass I had. I seem to have gotten used to my active pickups and since I'm playing through an Ampeg Svt Classic the extra mid/high frequencies are kind of nice. I play mostly RnB/funk/hip hop so...

Which pickups for Fender Jazz bass 2013 American deluxe 5-string?

Hey y'all I'm running a Jazz American deluxe 5-string through an SVT Classic and ampeg 4x10 cab. I want to upgrade my pickups and was wondering what you would recommend? I play some top 40 gigs but mostly play RnB, funk/soul. It's an Ash body bass. A friend recommended bare knuckles pick ups...

    Small Scale Bass Hate?

In college I studied jazz performance and I had a short scale Ibanez artcore. It's a semi hollow body and I had put flat wounds on it. Sounded great for jazz melodies, walking lines and even for a Motown Jamerson sound. The small neck was great for bass studies or fast soloing. I enjoyed it, now...

Bias troubles and "ungrounded" amp buzz around inputs.

Also a fantastic idea, thanks for the tip! Yes, it only does it when there isn't a 1/4" plugged in! On both inputs. It seems like a ground issue, if I touch the head on the side that the ground wire is screwed to on the inside I hear a change in the buzz.

Bias troubles and "ungrounded" amp buzz around inputs.

Great idea! Thanks! After switching the polarity switch to diminish buzz I wasn't able to achieve a solo green light on the first triad anymore. I would get a green then red immediatley. I will try again and see if it is truly a tube or bias issue. Great thinking B-String!

Bias troubles and "ungrounded" amp buzz around inputs.

Been searching for the info online, I believe the newer SVT is 600 not sure, haven't been able to find clear information! I guess I should find a specialist in my area. Thanks!

interesting! Anyway to diagnose at home? My tubes have a slight orange glow, I believe this is normal.

Bias troubles and "ungrounded" amp buzz around inputs.

Yes, but before I take the easy and costly way out I want to learn about it! Thanks for the info! The hum sounds fine except when I touch the inputs or the top left of the head it gets louder, almost like it's poorly grounded

Bias troubles and "ungrounded" amp buzz around inputs.

I have been having trouble with my bias on an SVT classic head. The 1st side light is fine, I can get it green but the 2nd one goes from being unlit to bright red after a certain point, no green to be found. What should I do? The amp sounds fine to me, it does have consistent hum to it but I...
