I for one am really thrilled by the new MIJ series from Fender. The basses look very cool (and relatively affordable) and I'm excited to finally be able to purchase a Mustang in pink with the phase switching on it. But why the lack of hype from Fender about this series? I almost didn't notice...

While Squier does have some high quality models on their higher price end, if you're paying $1,000 or more for a Squier, it better be a pretty damn good Squier.

Yeah, I guess. This kinda looks like a Fender version of the Squier V-Mod series. Except the Squier Mustangs actually have the phase switching.

Well, that's almost the same price range as the American Pro, but a few hundred under. Anyone got any ideas on what Fender's aiming to accomplish with this series?

It can't be more than the American Professional series though. This is probably geared towards people who want something better than the Standard and little funky but can't afford a Professional or an American Original, I'm guessing.

I've got this good 'nuff Ibanez GSR200 bass that I found at a Goodwill a few months back. Solid bass overall, good construction, passive electronics, and it was quite a steal at $75. But the only thing that I think could be better are the pickups. I'm thinking of swapping out my p-bass pickup...

Thank the lord, a Mustang bass other than the JMJ with what I hope to god are those classic vintage pickups.

In all honesty I would really like to see a Fender instrument other than the Flea bass use Shell Pink. My heart was broken when they took it off the Mustang, and I think it'd look great on a Mustang bass.

I think that Fender could cut almost 50% of bass production costs if they scrapped the Jazz and Precision basses and just reintroduce the Urge bass. You may not like it but we all know it's true.
