"Official" MTD KZX Ltd. Edition bass owners group

How much of a difference is there between the the limited edition zx and the zx that are unsigned and still for sell at musicians friend, perfect bass, ect.? Are they the same but without the special treatment from Mr. Tobias, closer to the kz, or what? Been saving to buy one but wanted to make...

Tech 21 VT Bass 1969 head!

I think this amp looks pretty awesome, 300 watts is perfect for me. But I mostly play church gigs with a pa backing me up, so wattage isn't super important to me. Also I used to play in a three piece rock band with a loud drummer only using a gk backline 210 combo with no extension cab, so...

    Thickness vs Width

I've always had a really hard time playing a bass if the neck is to narrow. I've never had a problem with wide or thick because I have pretty big hands.

    Great Christian bassists?

Norm Stockton (Lincoln Brewster, solo, etc.) is ridiculously good, as is Andrew Gouche, Brandon Aaronson (Jesus Culture), Cassie Campbell (Misty Edwards band), and several others. Most Christian bands have really good musicians not just bassists. The ones that aren't really showy are still...

There seems to be something wrong with the finish of my Yamaha...

I think that I have the same bass as you, the yamaha rbx375?, and I have the same problem. The paint on the back of the neck is completely gone and the paint of the body is flaking away very quickly. Everything that I've been told about it is that the paint is just crappy and very fragile. I...

    Squier vintage modified club

Well, its ebonal(sp?), a type of epoxy, no wood at all. So, maybe just applying another layer of epoxy will clean it up?

    Squier vintage modified club

What should I do about the string wear I'm getting on my fretless? The grooves very pronounced but don't effect the playability or tone, just look bad. Is there anything I can do to fill them in or sand them out? Something like that?

What to do to a new Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Fretless?

The VMs and Classic Vibe basses are very good for the money, outperforming MIM fenders and even some MIA fenders. And as for frets, they're just speed bumps. Fretless basses can be more expressive than fretted basses and many prefer them.

What to do to a new Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Fretless?

I ended using the 66s steel roundwounds, but also switch to 77s quite often. I prefer the 77s to the 88s are okay. Just couldn't get into the nylon feel. They sounded good, but I just felt more comfortable with 77s. I would suggest giving the 66s a try also, they are brighter so they cut a lot more.

    Another pickguard poll...

I would say don't put one on at all but if you really want to a clear or trans black would look pretty good. Of course it is your bass so whatever you do just make sure it makes you happy.

What to do to a new Squier Vintage Modified Jazz Fretless?

I have the same bass and the only thing I've done to it is slap on some rotosounds. You can pretty easily get a Jaco type sound out of it. This bass has plenty of the mawh factor that is so coveted in fretless basses.

are female bassists more attractive than normal women ?

Personally I do find women that play bass to be more attractive, I think it has something to do with sharing a passion for the instrument. I also find women that play pretty much any instrument more attractive, particularly this clarinet player that also plays piano for worship bands around the...

Who is your favorite string manufacturer?

I really like MTD strings, steel and nickel but also use DR Black Beauties. They both have a sweet sounding top end without being to clanky and a smooth low end. I also use Rotosounds from my fretless and sometimes GHS. But mostly its MTD stainless steel roundwounds, the custom gauge.
