    Octave Up Pedal Tracking Issues

Thanks for the responses folks. After some meddling, I've managed to get much better results with a combination of fiddling with the EQ (cutting bass & mids, boosting highs), rolling down the tone, primarily using the neck pickup on my Jazz bass and running distortion next in the chain. I might...

    Octave Up Pedal Tracking Issues

Just got my hands on a Foxrox Octron 2 and I'm having real trouble getting the Up shift to work anywhere other than the really high register. If I play anything lower than the 15th fret the pedal doesn't seem to shift the octave up at all and just seems to add distortion. The lower octave seems...

Bands with Two bassist on stage.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor have two bassists, one of which switches to double bass for some songs.

    Voltage Converter Question

Cool, thanks a lot. Don't know why I didn't think to order them from the same site. It's next day delivery too so hopefully I'll have the amp working by this time tomorrow.

    Voltage Converter Question

Thanks again for the help. I'll order up these fuses. Like you say, it'd be better to play it safe and get the exact fuses GK recommends.

    Voltage Converter Question

Thanks for the info. I think that I'll opt to get the external transformer so that if I get any more American-made products in the future I'll have a way of stepping down the current. In terms of fuses, I'm guessing that the one that came with the amp should still be suitable. It's actually a 4A...

    Voltage Converter Question

I'm using a GK 800RB. It says on the back next to the power input '120V' '8A', so that means it would need a converter designed to handle at least 1k VA, right? (8 x 120 = 1,000) I'll just take the converter back, say it didn't work and order Invalid Link Removed unless anyone else has any input...

    Voltage Converter Question

OK, so I need a voltage converter in order to get my amp working. From what I've worked out it needs at least 1k VA to get it up and running, so I assumed the converter would need to be compatible with that. I went to my local music store to try and find one and the guy told me that he was...

Using a US amp in UK

Thanks for the input everyone. I'll take it to my local music and/or electrical shops to see if they can convert the amp to run on UK power. If not, I'll get a transformer for it.

Well luckily I don't live in 1930's Britain.

Using a US amp in UK

Believe me, I got a VERY good deal on the amp. So much so that even if I had to spend £100 on a transformer (which seems likely), It'd still be worth it. The reason I wanted the 800RB as opposed to any other GK was so that I have the option to use it to it's full potential as a bi-amp at some...

Using a US amp in UK

I'm thinking about getting the transformer you linked me to. Will the thing make a load of noise when it's on? I ask because ideally I wanted to have the option to use the amp at home. As for the fuse, I'm guessing either a 125V 8A (as it suggests) or a 250V 4A (like the one that was in the amp...

Using a US amp in UK

Um, yep...I'm afraid I must confess that I thought just using a plug adapter would make the amp work fine over here, and it did...for a couple of seconds. I shan't be making that mistake again...talk about learning the hard way. Damn my naive non-electrically savvy brain, I just want to play bass!

Using a US amp in UK

Underneath where the fuse goes in it says '125V', '8A' so does that mean I'd need a transformer that can handle at least 1,000VA? What the hell a 4A 250V fuse was doing in there is beyond me, but like you said hopefully the fuse blowing has saved the rest of the amp. So just to confirm: I should...

Using a US amp in UK

OK, so I've just taken the fuse out. It's about 1.5 inches and is labeled '4A' & '250V'. It's already blown so I'll have to get a new one, unless I'd need something different to get it working on UK voltage. Is there any way that I can work out from that what the draw will be?
