Thanks. So, looking at it and trying to work it out, it seems that the tapped and full wires go into the switch and the output wires from that would then just be treated like the hot wires from normal J pickups?

I have attached the wiring diagram for the Schecter Diamond J bass which includes a coil tap switch. Would it be possible to add a second push-pull switch and wire it so that there's a series/parallel switch but also keeping the coil tap switch working as normal?

By that, do you mean that in practice either paint or copper foil will do a good job of shielding or do you mean that in reality, no kind of shielding will make that much of a difference?

Thanks mate but I've worked it all out. The yellow is the earth, bare is the shielding, white is the hot and red is a coil tap. The tone pot (with attached switch) that came with mine has always been crackly and wouldn't clean up with electrical cleaner so I've temporarily just wired it up like...

Think I've confused it by the way I've drawn it. Is it the ones wired closest to the pot itself or the ones wired furthest away that would be the hot?

One more thing you may be able to help me with; given that the pickups are non-tapped when the switch is down and tapped when the switch is pulled, am I right to assume that the whites are the hot and the reds are the tap?
