"Official" Mikro Bass Club Part 3

I got some used La’Bella 760FL strings for just under $30 and they sound amazing. Having used D’addario Chromes on another bass before, the light gauge of these strings is sooo much nicer to pick and they’re smoother too! Flats (and tapes) rock!

Why does the Harley Benton Rickenfaker NOT sound like an ACTUAL Rick?

I’m excited this thread has popped up because I stated in another thread a year-ish ago that I was gonna mod my RB414 at some point. If I get half the way to a “Rick” sound I’ll take it for the funzies. To my ears the Rick signature tone to me regardless of who’s playing it, is that it has a...

What is your "one day..." bass?

As a McCartney fan, I'd absolutely love a Rickenbacker bass with the toaster neck PU and either TI flats or Rotosound Tru Bass strings. Probably a Rickenbacker 4003S, but if I could get one that's modded to v63 spec or perhaps a vintage one that would be amazing. Although it'll likely be a while...

Is it sacrilege to put flats on my 4003 Rick ?

Any time I've listened to a Rickenbacker with flatwounds, it's pure bliss. I only have a Harley Benton rick clone (needs some work to sound like a Rick) but I enjoyed playing it for a couple of years with some D'Addario Chromes and loved how it felt and goes amazing with compression. I've yet...

    Harley Benton RB414CS

The RB-414 has a single coil in the bridge position and a humbucker in the neck position. Some have said the neck pickup has a mud bucker-like quality to it. I should probably record a little demo of the bass with my Daddario Chromes on it for reference.

    Harley Benton RB414CS

I’ve looked at other threads saying the pickup position is what gets the sound closer to a Rickenbacker more than the actual pickup model you’re using. I’m not stupid :/

    Harley Benton RB414CS

Has anyone attempted to move the neck pickup that's relatively in the same position as a real Rickenbacker bass? I'm considering doing it, because I've noticed that with my flatwound strings, I'm getting a distinctly different timbre than recordings of the Rickenbacker with flatwounds.

Joined TalkBass, seems like a nice community!

TalkBass helped me make my decision to buy a Harley Benton RB-414 and what length of strings are compatible (because apparently D'addario's standard length are too short while other brands are fine lmao.) And I love coming here to see people's knowledge of what pedals and effects certain songs...

    Strings For Harley Benton RB-414?

I use D’addario Chromes Light XL (Extra Long Scale), I tried their long scale initially but the silk/taper started a 1/2 inch before meeting the nut. So for reference I know that 37”-38” is ideal for the RB-414. I think other manufacturers tend to have that as their normal long scale length...
