I put the Babicz on my fretless jazz and have no complaints. I, too, hated, the stock Fender barrell bridge and it's inherent rattles. The Babicz was a painless retro-fit.

My guess is a bad 1/4" jack or a loose wire, most likely a loose wire.

I've got one, as well as two ukes. Fun for fooling with and as you learn more chords and runs in different tunings, it opens up new idea on other instruments. No idea about the difficulty level involved in finding a LH model though.
