ROFL I went and tried it and was like the OOOOOOO picture for sure. (In the process I even discovered the G string on this bass also has a very slight deflection angle!)
OLDE thread but I found it as I just got the cheapo Harley-Benton fretless J-bass and was wondering if this would be a problem over time or not (the website pic here is slightly angled, the deflection angle - the E string - is a little more obvious viewed straight from the top).
So I got to...
OLDE thread but I have paid little attention to mine as it's simply sounded good all these years, so I decided to nose around online. I got mine early 90s when I was in a college band - I listened to all the combos the music store had around $500 and I was shocked a Fender - of all things! -...
If you keep doing this the nail will separate from the bed - so if at the point of bleeding you really want this not to recur for awhile - preferably a couple of months as once the separation keeps happening it may not reattach fully - reattachment generally does occur but it is a slow process...
I guess I just like actual bass tone, and not some bunch of distortion and other crap. T4E (live sound) was the end of the line for me and it was pushing it. RiR is an exact example of how not to do things sound-wise for all kinds of reasons, and I totally disagree that there was much point in...
The more I hear stuff like this, I wonder why the heck he felt the need to go all distorted etc. I just found this - blown away.
The drums sounds really nice too.
I'd love to hear Geddy Lee's input on this one.
(I'm not just cracking a joke, mostly, sort of. Reading that book...he probably knows more about what's going on here than any of us rubes.)
Why Geddy went through so much trouble to have so many cool basses and then run them through his distortion crap etc to make them sound the same is anyone's guess.
My personal opinion is his bass sound has worsened (from Awesome) since oh Signals tour roughly. I have no idea why he likes it -...
Heh, I've had one bass for ... 25 years. Steinberger Spirit 4-string of all things. It still does all that I need it to, which amazes me. I think the cheapo passive/wood ones have an appeal that the active/graphite ones don't, believe it or not.
I'd get a decent-but-much-cheaper instrument first TBH. Learn some basics of playing (including other styles than just slap, you might be surprised) including a) is what you think you'll like playing really it, b) do you stay with it or is not what you thought it would be. Once there, you'll be...
