Are all/most of your basses strung with the same strings?

I think finding the right strings for a bass can completely change the feel and playability. I have tried a ton but currently using Precision - chromes, they just work great on this bass, don’t plan on changing. Jazz - just put on cobalts which I think I’m starting to like. They are...

    Lightweight Bass Head

I bought an Auguilar TH for gigs I didn’t want to haul the SVT out to. I couldn’t be happier.

    NBD = PV T40

I love the way T-40’s sound! Enjoy your new bass. I don’t know the weight of any of my basses. A friend told me my 5 string was crazy heavy....wasn’t aware ‍♂️ I guess some folks are frailer than others.

    Flatwounds for live performances difficult?

First off I love flats. I’ve had them on my pbass, jazz and stingray at one point in time. Currently only on my pbass. When I had them on my jazz they worked great in some bands but not in others. 3 piece minimalist blues they were perfect. 6 piece funk band with 2 guitars, keys/synth...

4 ohm head into a 8 ohm cab

Don’t overthink it. As others have stated, get a 2nd 15 exactly like what have and stack them. Don’t get crazy with the bass knob and use the mids to get punch. Listen to the sound of your speakers, if they start sounding like crap your pushing them too hard. 2x15 should be enough for any...

Am I missing out, by not knowing cover songs?

Trying to figure everything out on your own is almost like reinventing the wheel. If you can learn approaches, theory and techniques used by other why wouldn’t you? if you were a visual artist you would learn the techniques and study works of art by those that came before you. If you were can...

    G&l or fender bass

Anyone who makes these basses out to be a world apart from one another is probably way too loyal to whatever brand they recommend. They are both jazz basses made by reputable companies and are more alike than they are different.

    I don't own a Fender bass

Allot of people here don’t seem to be Fender fans but plenty of bass builders are. If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Fender should be pretty happy with the respect paid to them by Sadowsky, Lakeland, Nash and everyone else that makes copies of their jazz bass and pbass.

    What is Fender thinking???

It’s definitely cocaine, someone should call The Police!

Does it REALLY make a difference?

If your a competent bassist you can dial in “your tone” and make it work with any reasonable bass and amp. I think allot of bass players (myself included) can over think the aspects of playing bass that are least important. Sure any bass player can tell the difference between a pbass with...

Envelope filter with fuzz: fx loop? Options?

I am currently using a wonderlove and was using the fx loop at first. I was running my octave pedal and a fuzz in the loop and it worked great. It makes the triggering of the effect more constant but I felt it took some of the beef out of the octave pedal. I switched back to running my pedals in...

    The P Bass Price Curve

When I buy a bass I know what I want and how much I’m willing to spend. If I find a bass I want for the amount I’m willing to spend great. People worry too much about what other people buy and why they do it. I really don’t care. As long as your setup isn’t hindering your playing your good to...

So, the Live Music scene died in the 90s... causes?

Music isn’t dead and never will be. I think people are confusing their music scene disappearing with music disappearing. Nirvana killing music????? Most punk, post punk, grunge bands etc made a living by constant touring. If anything there were more bands touring in the 90’s. They may have...
