NBD = PV T40

When I first became aware of the T40 and downloaded the manual to familiarize myself with the controls I was totally blown away by both pups being single coil with the tone control between 8-10 and humbucking from 7 and below. The addition of phase shifting on the bridge pup and you almost get too many different tones from these beasts!

I was extremely blessed to be able to take over stewardship of my T40 along with a Combo 300 from the original owner who unfortunately wasn't able to play them anymore.

Your case, Griffo, is different than mine, what is gray plastic with orangey fur inside and rounded ends (more like OSSD's in post 41, above), says "Peavey" onnit; is yours aftermarket?
Yeah..bought the case seperate as it didnt come with one..it is a 1979 model though..you can tell by the headstock logo..mine says.."Patents Applied For" which denotes a 1979 made T-40. There was more info in the T-40 club if you check them out.

Cool, mine gives a patent number, and says "other patents pending". The serial # starts 005, so, consistent with '80.
In 1980, I was a sophomore in college, played guitar but had never even touched a bass. Of course, the Rickenbacker amp in my first post pic is older than me. And I ain' young ...
loll..I'm 68 and still learning. My T-40 actually sounds so close to my Ric 4003 its uncanny loll

I love the way T-40’s sound! Enjoy your new bass.

I don’t know the weight of any of my basses. A friend told me my 5 string was crazy heavy....wasn’t aware ‍♂️ I guess some folks are frailer than others.

It's funny, though, they'll seem to get heavier as you grow older.... ;)

1959 or 60 Rickenbacker M8E. I replaced the speaker and tranny. It's a kinda Champ design, awesome for early Zep, Stones and Neil Young sounds.

We just used it on our last album; it's on one side, a Fender Pro, Jr. on t'other. Can ya tell the difference?*

*Unabashed attempt to get listeners. :smug:

I was not even aware, Rickenbacker made amps...

Thank you for this info!

Sure. Years ago I also hadda solid state 50 watt 1x12" that I traded for a Peavey Classic combo (that later broke but I still have the Peavey cab with a cuppla 12" Celestions in I use for guitar - still have the amp for that matter altho' I cannibalized the tubes), but I bought the M8E about 5 years ago for ~ $100 - it was kinda wonky but I did the minor rebuild. No real idear of the value but the Eboggers are asking in the area of $500. Ain't worth that, it's just a cool old "student" amp, but it do sound great.
