To answer the question, it does sound the same. I disconnected and removed the Neck H, rewired it, and put a single pick guard on. No difference in tone. However, you tend to play differently on single vs multiple pickup basses and I think that difference in mentality will shift the sound.

I’m happy with mine. Mid eq is super cool - you can basically get a straight to desk tone from one pedal because of it.

I ended up with that exactly, eq block right at the end to get some mids in if required.

It totally does. I've gone back and forth with my Special 5HH from HH to H config. I like the H because it removes options which helps my brain not get stuck in tinkerville. But didn't matter if the neck H was there or not, switching to the Bridge H sounds like it should no matter the config. I...

Yep! I would keep your favourite comp and the Microtubes though. I find the Stomp doesn't quite nail analog dirt pedals and compression is a bit of a pain to dial in by ear. Other wise synth, delay, octaves, chorus, filter, and tuner are all covered quite admirably
