I own an SVT350 head, 410 & 115 stack, a real back breaker but you know what? My all original 1970 Dan Armstrong Bass, all original 1972 Fender Telecaster Bass, and all original 1999 USA Jazz bass sound awesome through it!!! Don't give 'em away, everything comes back around eventually.

I wouldn't replace the neck. It's a mechanical issue. Like others are saying, a spacer or washer or two could do the trick to give the nut more travel on the threads before it hits a solid mechanical shoulder (like the wood) or I've seen people actually clamp the neck with a pronounced back...
