    Mesa Prodigy vs 400/400+

I recently got the mesa bass prodigy and love it so far. I really hoping the reliability issues that I am seeing don't sideline it! I heard it was about issues with Mesa supplied KT88s. I took the plunge I got new Gold Lion KT88s in mine and it sounds wonderful. The sweet spot so far is voice 4...

Marshall Studio Series SC20H and SV20H heads are great for recording!

Maybe use A/B pedal and record both at the same time? Nice options!

Lucky you! I'll see if they're coming to DC area. I like they're first 3 albums best. I can respect their new direction. They sound like they're into A Place to Bury Strangers (or the like). Helms Alee have some great bass playing and sound. That could be a thread itself.

Bass sounds good here for sure! It sits really well in the mix. I can see what you mean about the pre-amp. I love the covers, you really do them well. We play "skulls" for Halloween, can't resist.

No harm, no foul. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I am just being clear that I am not knowledgeable about recording and glad people like you are. And that Marshall studio heads are great for recording bass.

Master List Of Medium 32" Scale Basses Only - Not For Short Scale 30"

I will share those soon. Initial one's without amp. And then full review with amp. My big tube stack in at our practice space and with busy summer, it will be around 6/20 after a show.

I see a bit of a Gibson Ripper look too.

Master List Of Medium 32" Scale Basses Only - Not For Short Scale 30"

I like that it's a bit ugly. I can see your point though. In a way the Thunderbird non-reverse is kinda of "cool ugly" too. I was looking at those recently. Kurt Ballou is a very interesting engineer/designer, I talked to him briefly about the pickup and bridge on this bass. You can find lots of...

Marshall Studio Series SC20H and SV20H heads are great for recording!

Thanks for sharing. I'll listen tonight. My band does Misfits covers for our Halloween shows. We play posthardcore kinda of like Drive Like Jehu, Jawbox, and/or Helms Alee. So it's fun to blast out some power chords, I do them on bass too.

Marshall Studio Series SC20H and SV20H heads are great for recording!

I am a novice with recording, glad to work with a good recording engineer. But I've seen how different mics and placement make dramatic differences. My engineer also uses two different mics in different positions. So I rely on him for sure. One thing I hope to never do is claim I know things...

Master List Of Medium 32" Scale Basses Only - Not For Short Scale 30"

Wow! That is really close. Kurt Ballou (who designed the bass) said he was inspired by Rickenbacker. He played Ricks for a while, so I think that's probably the case. I've played Fenders, Ricks, and Gibsons my whole bass playing life, so this will be my first non-"big three" bass. But my head...

Marshall Studio Series SC20H and SV20H heads are great for recording!

Maybe it's about what mics pick up? Guitar amp tone, eq, compression work better perhaps? Not sure, but I've sometimes struggled recording SVT. Meaning translating the sound into a good recording. In a few months I'll record my Verellen Meatsmoke and I am super excited to A/B that with the...
