I was kinda surprised to see some of the hate for him here, but I understand why. He’s still one of my favorite bassists and I think his weird trebly tone activates the avant-garde music part of my brain that just likes weird sounds.

I guess for me, I find metal extremely engaging. It’s hard not to get focused on the music when the guitars are loud and noisy and the vocalist is shouting at you. I like a lot of very different genres aside from metal, but it’s hard to put into words why I love New Order or Depeche Mode so...

Yeah, I looked up what his bass tracks sounded like and it sounds kinda...watery? But weird sounding bass is better than no bass.

I personally love Nik Napalm's tone on the A side of Napalm Death's Scum album. It has almost no low end, so it's pretty bad at being a bass sound, but I can't get enough of that fuzzy blown-out speaker sound.
