Recommendation on how to add warmth to tone

I actually think a better term for what the OP is looking for is....'thick. A thick tone is full but punchy and can strip the plaster off the back wall of the venue. Best I ever heard was a guy running a Rick into an old Marshall 100 watt stack, was like a semi coming at you.... Really heavy and...

Dolly Parton died today - RIP

What always struck me is the way she was quick to laugh at her self. Look at the 'Here U Come Again' sleeve photo... kinda sending herself up a bit. An all round hugely appealing personality and talent....Legend.

    P Bass Upsides?

I honestly think the P bass is the nearest electric instrument we have to classical strings. A violin will sound amazing in skilled hands but in a beginners hands? Nope... terrible. Same with a P bass. When I was young I couldnt get it to sound good so spent the next 30 yrs playing active this...

Not getting the p bass sound I want from my Yamaha bb234

PJ's never sound totaly like P's unless you totaly isolate the J PU. I do this with a switch.

Never-ending Journey…Replacing my SVT + 810 and Streamliner 900 + 410 Uber — help me find the best lightweight rig for reggae and ska

Reckon ur over thinking it. Ive done tons of reggae gigs using what ever was available and I always sounded good. Its not about the gear its about how you set it up and how you play.

    NBD: 1976 Fender Precision

Lovely. I had a 1975 natural ash and totally regret selling it. Had a really robust tone.

    Modding a Squier CV 70s P bass

Had one for a while and loved it but let it go cause I have too many P basses. . They are the only production basses with the fat 70's neck profile. Stick a better PU in and you've got a 1st class instrument. Great build quality too.

Fender Custom Shop: Life long customer soured by poor customer support; A Cautionary Tale!!

Sorry for your loss but seriously I fail to see what you thght you'd get for 5K? Even the PG looks cheap. No amount of money can buy vintage wood that has been played in. At the end of the day what exactly are you paying for? Sorry to be a downer but Ive had tons of P basses so have some idea.

Billy Idol White Wedding bass tone

Whatever studio it was recorded in. Thats a desk tone made by the engineer, bass used is immaterial.

A bass player takes up the flute

I'll give you that and raise.... Cello even tho I did seriously look at flute but kinda figured it would be too loud to practise where Iam.. Cello tho is quite easy to dampen down to a scratchy whisper when needed. . Played violin in school decades ago and quit when I left. 50 yrs later and...

    Bonnie Tyler....

Nice words. I always do a short living room tribute when artists from my generation go. Plugged in yesterday and blubbed my way through her hits.

    All amps sounds the same?

Yep they probably do sound different to varying degrees but out in the mosh pit we all sound pretty much the same. And dont even get me started on FOH dudes and studio dudes who will destroy your tone in a trice.

Fender James Jamerson 62 Precision - limited run?

Im not sure a JJ tribute bass makes any sense. His Motown bass had a bent neck with unplayable action and was covered in chicken grease. Reckon any 60's SB P bass is a kinda JJ tribute bass.
