What a great loss. From the other side of the world my day got a lot sadder on hearing that news.

When I was young, I didn't come close to understanding the range of Dolly's talents, and had no idea about her many humnaitaarian efforts. It was such a pleasure to slowly realize just how amazing she was, and in so many ways. And social media helped younger generations understand her greatness much more quickly. I'm sure my friend's college-age daughter and her friends are shedding tears tonight. RIP Dolly, you were one of one.

My favorite Dolly story was her talking about when she was a child her mother would put the corner of Dolly's dress under a bedpost so she couldn't wander away while ma went to draw water and bring it back to their cabin.
